Community activists meet with Project Director Brig. (Retd) Shehzada Imtiaz to discuss welfare improvements, security measures, and development plans for the Enclave

A proactive group of community activists met with Project Director, Brigadier (Retd) Shehzada Imtiaz to address the ongoing welfare of residents and discuss future developments aimed at improving the living standards within the Enclave. The meeting was also attended by Coordination Chief, Ms. Qandeel Ali, who assisted the Project Director during the discussions.

Key Issues Addressed

During the meeting, a variety of important topics were brought to the table. The community activists, representing concerned residents, expressed their views on the need for reform and a thorough review of the Enclave’s existing management policies. Specifically, they emphasized:

  • Reforming Policies for Physical Development: Activists stressed the importance of revisiting current development strategies to ensure sustainable and resident-friendly growth within the Enclave.
  • Cost-Effective Maintenance: Suggestions were made to enhance the maintenance of services in a cost-effective manner, with a focus on improving the efficiency of daily operations.
  • Environmental Protection: Protecting the environment and ensuring green spaces are preserved for the welfare of residents remains a priority.

Strengthening Security

One of the primary concerns raised was the need to bolster security measures. The activists proposed the fencing or walling of the unguarded borders of the Enclave to enhance safety for all residents. Additional concerns were shared about the screening of suspicious individuals, particularly foreigners, to ensure the community remains safe and secure.

Upcoming Traffic and Safety Measures

The Management announced that new boards would soon be displayed across the Enclave with clear Traffic SOPs and a Helmet Compulsory policy for all vehicles entering the area. This initiative aims to improve traffic management and enhance road safety.

Furthermore, the PD assured the community that street lighting schedules would be managed by dedicated staff to ensure proper on/off timings, contributing to a safer and more comfortable environment for everyone.

Electricity Distribution & Solar Units

One of the major announcements made during the meeting was the anticipated arrival of BTPL with an Electricity Distribution License. This change will allow BTPL to manage electricity distribution within the Enclave, helping to control costs and provide direct financial relief to residents.

Additionally, the PD hinted that adjustments to Net-Metering Solar Units were underway, as per a communication from NEPRA on 6th September 2024. These changes will bring further cost savings to residents who have invested in solar energy systems.

Water Supply and General Maintenance

The Project Director addressed questions regarding maintenance services, including the supply of water via bowsers, cuts in solar units, and the overall upkeep of amenities. He reassured the group that, despite resource constraints, the Management remains committed to delivering the best possible services to residents.

Celebrating Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)

In closing, the PD emphasized the importance of celebrating Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) with enthusiasm and solemnity in the A Sector Jamia Masjid. He encouraged all residents to take part in the upcoming celebrations and highlighted the cultural significance of the occasion.

A Community United for Progress

The community call group, consisting of Muhammad Sarwar Khan, Muhammad Anwer Usmani, Ch. Muhammad Azam, and Iftikhar Hussain Kazmi, expressed their gratitude for the warm and candid reception they received from the PD and the Management team. They are hopeful that the issues raised will be addressed promptly, leading to a better quality of life for all residents.

As the meeting concluded, the activists conveyed their optimism for the future, looking forward to trouble-free services and a safer, more sustainable living environment.

Stay tuned for further updates on these initiatives as the Enclave continues its journey toward progress and community well-being.
