GENERAL SECRETARY, SOBER, MR. USMANI, & I JOINTLY ADDRESSED A FOLLOWING LETTER TO PD on Misc. Electricity Charges (MECs)

Subject: Misc. Electricity Charges (MECs)

Dear Project Director sahib,
AoA,
Time, and again, SOBER has raised the above-captioned subject with your office. We are grateful for the partial relief on this issue that was provided to residents of BEI in March, 2023. However, they are of the firm view that it was insufficient.
We all are aware that the maintenance charges in BEI have been exorbitant, much higher than those of other premier housing societies in the twin cities, including DHA, Park View, Naval Anchorage, Fizaia colony, and Islamabad Gulberg. SOBER stresses on the need for making these charges fair, and reasonable, consistent with other housing societies.
BEI Residents took a principled decision to withhold the payment of MECs.
They are unlikely to pay them. However, as in the past, they are not opposed to paying the normal maintenance charges, minus MECs.
Based on the foregoing, SOBER requests your office to issue revised maintenance bill without MECs, and without any surcharge or penalty.
Once MECs are withdrawn, SOBER will ensure that the Maintenance bill is paid by residents in no time.
We expect your understanding of the issue. Coming on the heels of withdrawal of fuel cylinders, the excessive charge of MECs is unjust, unreasonable, and out of synch with those being levied by other housing societies.
Kindly direct the billing department to issue us revised maintenance bill without MECs (& any surcharge).
With best regards..

Yours Sincerely,
(Iftikhar Hussain Kazmi, President, SOBER)
(Muhammad Anwer Usmani, General Secretary, SOBER)
